Highlights 2024

30 Dec 2024

Saying farewell to 2024, we are proud to reflect on a year of growth and strategic milestones within Moldova's startup ecosystem.

Startup Moldova's commitment to promoting innovation, technological advancement, and economic growth has generated significant results, thanks to the collaboration and support of our ecosystem enablers, partners, sponsors, and, of course, the founders themselves.

  • Startups in our ecosystem generated over $40 million in revenue this year and raised a total of $44.5 million in the last several years. These startups created more than 1,000 jobs, with an average team size being just over nine employees.
  • Out of 236 founders that we track, 17% are women co-founders, while only 5% of startups are solely founded by women.
  • 80% of the startups we track originated in Moldova, They then successfully expanded to regional and global markets. The remaining - are the startups founded by the Moldovan diaspora. Moreover, they continue to support our ecosystem as mentors, partners and investors.
  • Without any dominant verticals yet, there is a slight concentration of startups in HealthTech, FinTech, MarTech, and EdTech.
  • 92% of the tracked startups declared to be in the validation phase (48%) and the growth stage (44%).
