Democracy Tech Hackathon
Democracy is under increasing threat globally. With Russia’s illegal war in Ukraine, the battle between democracies and autocracies is heightened. Technology is at the forefront of this competition with Russian disinformation and hybrid warfare. In that light, we aim to amplify our efforts of innovating, and then scale, tech solutions to democracies’ problems, like elections at risk, illicit surveillance, corruption, and accountability in Moldova and abroad.
The Democracy Tech Hackathon is a two-day hacking marathon, taking place on the sidelines of the Moldova DemTech Conference, to innovate new solutions that will make tech work for democracy. We want to invite out-of-the-box thinkers with a background in technology, business, startups, policy, and democracy activism to register as either an individual or a team (max 5 per team).
To sign up for the hackathon please register here: https://bit.ly/3eijWye
The Democracy Tech hackathon will be divided into two broad themes focused on building solutions:
1. To strengthen democracy at home (Moldova)
2. To strengthen democracy abroad (with a focus on defending democracy in Ukraine)
The winning team will automatically be admitted to the Democracy Tech Entrepreneur Fellowship and be invited to pitch their solution at the next Copenhagen Democracy Summit on May 15 -16 2023.
